At the heart of the redesign is a completely reengineered side knob profile. Featuring a larger footprint and reshaped sipes, the new side knobs deliver exceptional stability and predictability—especially when pushing hard into corners on dry, hardpacked terrain. By resisting deflection under load, the upgraded knobs boost both durability and control while giving riders quicker engagement and a more confident, locked-in feel through turns.
The center tread stays true to the original’s fast-rolling 2-3-2 layout, but the central “3” has been split into individual knobs for improved terrain conformity and enhanced braking traction. Meanwhile, transition knobs were pushed outward, ensuring a smoother, more consistent lean-to-edge feel that complements aggressive riding styles. Like the side knobs, the center tread also benefits from revised siping that increases grip and extends tread life.
These refinements make the new Dissector more versatile than ever. It’s a standout front tire for short- to mid-travel trail bikes in the 130–140mm range, especially when paired with a fast rear option like the Maxxis Forekaster or Rekon. On longer-travel setups (150mm+), the Dissector shines as a fast, grippy rear tire in dry conditions, delivering the speed riders crave without sacrificing control.
Whether you're racing, chasing PRs, or just pushing the limits on your local trails, the new Maxxis Dissector is built to go faster and corner harder.
The new Dissector is available now in a 29x2.40 size with EXO, EXO+, and DoubleDown casing options and a choice of Dual, or Triple MaxxTerra or MaxxGrip rubber compounds.
Fast-Rolling Center Tread: Ramped knobs reduce rolling resistance for speed on dry hardpack and loose-over-hard surfaces.
Aggressive Side Knobs: Provide reliable cornering support and braking traction.
Multiple Casing Options: Available in EXO, EXO+ and DoubleDown (DD) casings to suit trail to gravity disciplines.
MaxxTerra or MaxxGrip Compounds: Offer a balance between grip and durability (MaxxTerra) or maximum traction (MaxxGrip).
Tubeless Ready (TR): For lower pressure and improved grip without pinch flats.
